Job summary

Baker Tilly's Development Advisory team seeks a Senior Associate, Capital Formation to support renewable energy transactions from evaluation through close. You will apply financial modeling, due diligence, and market insight to structure deals and assess financing options.

Collaborating with investment professionals and cross-disciplinary teams, you will help drive transaction execution while navigating regulatory considerations in the energy transition sector.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or higher.
• 3+ years of professional experience in finance or energy sectors.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate renewable energy investments using financial modeling and project economics.
• Underwrite tax equity and other project finance transactions to optimize returns.
• Collaborate with developers, sponsors, lenders and legal counsel to close transactions.
• Review development assumptions, reports and third-party diligence for risks.
• Prepare Investment Committee Memoranda and marketing materials for capital deployment.
• Conduct market research on financing structures and regulatory developments.

In this role, you will support the evaluation, structuring, and execution of renewable energy transactions across various energy transition technologies. Leveraging financial modeling, transaction analysis, and market expertise, you will conduct due diligence, analyze project economics, and assess financing alternatives to support capital deployment decisions. Working alongside other investment professionals and collaborating with tax- and energy-related disciplines, you will help drive transactions from evaluation through close while navigating the evolving regulatory landscape of the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate investment opportunities in renewable energy infrastructure, including solar, storage, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen, through financial modeling and detailed analysis of project economics, cash flows, tax attributes, and risk-adjusted returns.
• Underwrite tax equity and other project finance transactions to optimize investor returns and capital efficiency.
• Collaborate with developers, sponsors, legal counsel, tax advisors, lenders, and other counterparties to support transaction execution, including due diligence, structuring, negotiations, and closing activities.
• Review project development assumptions, engineering reports, legal documentation, and third-party diligence materials to identify key investment risks.
• Prepare Investment Committee Memoranda, as well as marketing and business development materials necessary for capital aggregation and deployment.
• Conduct market research on financing structures, transaction activity, and regulatory developments related to renewable energy investments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4-year degree
• 3 years professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of work experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, project finance, or consulting; Energy/Power industry exposure preferred.
• Experience building financial models, including 3-statement and tax equity models, cash flow projections, and other financial analyses to support investment decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of professional and ethical conduct
