Job Description Summary

The Senior Associate Director is part of the Bentley University Undergraduate Admission team and will be primarily responsible for undergraduate student recruitment in New York City and Long Island, New York. The ideal candidate must have regional knowledge and the ability to identify potential opportunities and challenges to advance the University. This includes identifying key relationships with schools, guidance/college counselors and prospective students. The Senior Associate Director must be able to work independently, travel and work remotely, while functioning as part of the larger undergraduate recruitment team. This role is located in the geographic area it serves and requires a private office space with high-speed internet access. Preferred location is the greater New York City area. Travel to campus in Waltham, MA will be required periodically to support key admissions events and initiatives.

  • Plan and execute a recruitment and yield strategy specific to the New York City/Long Island market.
  • Provide leadership, direction, communication, and coordination for the recruitment of prospective students within the region with the goal of increasing inquiries, applicants, and enrolled students.
  • Correspond and present information about Bentley to groups of students, parents, educators, and alumni.
  • Steward prospects through the enrollment funnel with continued engagement and by providing excellent customer service.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with high school counselors and maintain market research on primary geographic territory.
  • Host and attend events and college career fairs and other off-campus recruitment events, interacting with students and parents while promoting Bentley University.
  • Work with the Undergraduate Admission Marketing and Events team to identify specific communication and event needs for the geographic region.
  • Assist students and parents with the financial aid process, where applicable.
  • Participate in the entire file review process, from reviewing applications, to rendering decisions and making recommendations for scholarship selection.
  • Travel to Bentley’s campus in Waltham at least 3-4 times annually for training, updates and assisting with on-campus programming.

Other Responsibilities

  • Travel to adjacent territories may be required.
  • Partner with the Bentley University Advancement team to develop strong alumni connections within the region to assist with recruitment.
  • Collaborate with Graduate Admissions and the Executive and Professional Education teams within the region as opportunities for joint efforts arise.
  • Participate in regular professional development and networking opportunities: Regional ACAC affiliate(s), NACAC and the Regional Groups of NARAC.
  • Build relationships with colleagues who serve students in college access.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of college admissions experience.
  • Resides in the region. Preference given to candidates who currently live, or have lived in the New York City/Long Island region, have specialized knowledge of the region, and/or have served as a regional admissions representative previously. We will consider applicants from the state of NY with the expectation of recruiting in the NYC/Long Island region.
  • Effective time management skills, organizational skills, as well as strong analytical skills to monitor development of territory.
  • Ability and sensitivity in dealing with diverse populations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal and public speaking experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Willingness and ability to travel independently in the region specified and Bentley University’s campus in Waltham.
  • A valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive and pleasant attitude always required.
  • Energy level is important as this role can require long hours.
  • Preference given to candidates with proficiency in Spanish.

Work Environment

  • Willing and able to work outside typical working hours, including evenings and weekends. Stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as lift and transport forty (40) pounds.
