Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York seeks a Senior Data Scientist Associate for the Payments Data & Analytics team to drive data-driven insights and AI/ML solutions across FX and Supply Chain Finance.

You will design end-to-end analytics, build scalable models, and collaborate with product, engineering, risk, and operations to deliver high-impact client outcomes using GenAI and advanced analytics. You will lead data pipelines, model development, and analytical exploration, ensuring data integrity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field and 3+ years of data analytics or data science experience, or an advanced degree and 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience designing and building data pipelines for analytical workloads using Python, SQL, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with LLMs and agentic AI techniques, including prompt engineering and GenAI prototyping.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and ability to convey complex info to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize end-to-end analytics and models for data-driven solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity with validation, reconciliation, and anomaly detection at the data layer.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to implement data-driven products efficiently.
  • Develop analytical models enabling dynamic payment execution and analytics.
  • Perform exploratory statistics and data mining across Payments data assets.
  • Prototype Generative AI capabilities and design prompts to align with business goals.

  • Partner with FX product teams to translate business needs into analytical statements and plans.
  • Collaborate across product, engineering, risk, and operations in agile squads.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to accelerate delivery to market.

Deliver the next generation of Payments products that combine JPMorgan Payments global payment network and data science as part of our Data & Analytics team. Apply advanced analytical and AI/MLexpertiseto deliver impactful, client-focused solutions.

As a Data Scientist Senior Associate within the Payments Data & Analytics team, you will partnerclosely with product teamsacross ourglobal payments organizationto deliver data-driven insightsand algorithmsacross domains like Foreign Exchange (FX)and Supply Chain Finance. You willcontribute tothenext generation ofPayments and Treasury Servicesproducts, drawing on a blend of consulting, data science, andapassion forhow we do things better withGenAI. Youwillwork onpayments domains likeFX — including currency conversion modeling, cross-border payment pattern analysis, FX rate optimization, and client behavior analytics — to drive new product development, GTM strategy, andclient outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners across product, engineering, sales, and risk to define problems, scope solutions, and deliver high-quality analytical models. The team supports both internal and external payment intelligence applications, as well as custom client analytics requests on an ad-hoc basis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and optimize end-to-end analytics and models to power data-driven solutions, evaluating and improving performance by identifying bottlenecks in throughput, latency, and resource utilization
  • Drive and improvequalityacross productsincluding validation checks, reconciliation logic, and anomaly detection at the data layer, to ensure the integrity of analytical outputs used for client-facing products and internal decision-making.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams toimplementdata-drivenproductsefficientlytooptimizeperformanceand ensureaccuracy,cost-discipline, andefficiencyacrossDatabricks/cloud environments.
  • Develop andmaintainanalytical modelsenablingdynamicpayment executionandanalytics solutionsinforming ourproduct strategyand clientengagement.
  • Perform exploratory statistics and data miningacross Payments’ data assetsto uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities for product improvements.
  • Leverage experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic AI techniques to prototype and deploy generative AI capabilities that enhance analytics workflows. Design and refine prompts to improve AI model performance and align outputs with business goals.
  • Architect and own scalable frameworks for AI model integration across business applications, mentoring junior team members on implementation ofbest practices and ensuring solutions can adapt and expand as the business evolves.
  • Monitor AI model performance,identifyareas for enhancement, and implement updates tomaintainquality and relevance.
  • Partner with the FX product team and key stakeholders to translate business needs into well-scoped analytical problem statements and execution plans, with emphasis on FX domain nuances such as multi-currency settlement, corridor-level economics, and regulatory considerations.
  • Collaborate across product, engineering, risk, and operations teams on agile squads to deliver comprehensive, data-driven solutions with tangible commercial impact for clients and customers.
  • Drive data science and analytics strategies, communicating findings, obstacles, and recommendations to stakeholders to accelerate delivery to market.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative field (e.g., STEM, Economics, Finance) and 3+ years of data analytics or data science experience, or an advanced degree and 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience designing and building data pipelines for analytical workloads, including data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration using Python, SQL, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Experience with LLMs and agentic AI techniques, including prompt engineering, multi-agent workflows, and GenAI application prototyping.
  • Proficiencyin Python and SQL for data processing and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Intellectual curiosity for solving business problems and an aptitude for learning new theory and technology.
  • Ability to drive work forward independently while collaborating effectively across teams,maintaininghigh accountability for deliverables and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Knowledge& experienceofPaymentsincluding familiarity withpayment execution, currency conversion mechanics, cross-border payment flows, and multi-currency settlement processes.
  • Familiarity with AWS and Databricks for data management and analysis.
  • Experience building and deploying AI agents and iterating designs to enhance functionality and user experience.
  • Awareness of big data technologies (e.g., Hive, Hadoop, Spark) and distributed computing concepts.
  • M.S. degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline.
