Job summary

Travelers seeks a Cybersecurity Technologist to join the VSAS team within Cybersecurity. You will analyze third‑party data access, assess inherent and residual risks, and ensure risk management for outsourcing.

You will interact with vendors and business partners to uphold cybersecurity procedures. The ideal candidate brings five years of cybersecurity experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of risk control frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or related field.
  • Five years experience with cybersecurity practices and incident investigation/resolution.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity risk control frameworks and methodologies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support and maintain security processes, controls, or products.
  • Analyze and resolve medium to high complexity problems independently.
  • Configure, test, and implement security process upgrades as directed.
  • Respond to and help resolve cybersecurity events and breaches.
  • Advise on changes to procedures and products with management review.
  • Review, identify, and respond to security events; escalate as needed.
  • Collaborate with business peers to support cybersecurity incident handling.
  • Contribute to budget planning and cost-control for assigned projects.

Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$81,500.00 - $134,500.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Vendor Security Assessment System (VSAS) team within Cybersecurity organization is responsible for analyzing and providing recommendations to assist in managing cyber-related risks associated with outsourcing Travelers data to third-party vendors or service providers. We have an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Technologist who will assist in the development, implementation, and execution of the Travelers Third Party Cybersecurity Risk Management Program.

Successful incumbent will engage with third parties to ensure the completion of all aspects of the risk assessment of third party vendors. Assess inherent and residual risk of data transfers.

Acts as the primary point of accountability for cybersecurity to business partners within assigned area. Supports and maintains security systems to ensure the integrity of company information and resources. Supports the investigation, identification, and resolution of cybersecurity events/breaches. Interfaces with internal and external entities to ensure adherence to cybersecurity procedures and policies.

A well-suited candidate will possess great communication skills (written and oral) and a solid understanding and knowledge of cybersecurity risk control frameworks.

What Will You Do?
  • Provide operational support, trouble shooting and maintenance of Security related processes, controls or products.
  • Independently analyze and resolve problems of medium to high complexity.
  • Configure, test, document and implement new or upgrades to security processes, controls or products as directed.
  • Participates in resolving situations involving improper attempts to access or infiltrate our networks.
  • Recommends changes to area procedures and products. Implements with management review.
  • Support reviewing or identifying and responding to security events and escalating to management.
  • Consults with business peers to support and resolve cybersecurity events.
  • Understands and has input to the budget process, and shares responsibility for cost-effective expense control of assigned projects.
  • Participate in Security and enterprise projects as assigned.
  • Act as a security representative at design and new technology meetings.
  • Provides guidance to more junior employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline.
  • Five years of relevant experience with Cybersecurity practices, processes, and Cybersecurity event investigation/resolution. Cybersecurity degree, Certifications Including: Security +, ISC2 SSCP, GSEC, etc.
  • Experience providing high-level support with a comprehensive knowledge of specific IS Security methodologies, processes, and software packages and a conceptual understanding of other IS Security procedures and policies.
  • Ideal candidate has presentation skills, can work in a fast paced multidimensional environment

What is a Must Have?
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of work experience within Computer Science or a related field.
