Rocky Mountain Institute's Third Derivative program seeks a Senior Associate to help startups access capital, develop fundraising strategies, and connect with a broad investor network. This remote-ready role sits at the intersection of startup finance, investor engagement, and capital innovation, with opportunities to design new capital solutions.

You will work across portfolios to tailor financing paths, advise founders, and build relationships with venture and strategic capital providers,

Qualifications

• 4+ years in venture capital, impact investing, or related finance fields.
• Understanding of how early- and growth-stage companies raise capital.
• Strong financial and analytical skills with capital structures.
• Experience working with startups, investors, or capital providers.
• Strong written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently.
• Strong relationship-building across entrepreneurs and investors.
• Systems thinking to translate patterns into repeatable tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver capital solutions to D3 startups.
• Advise fundraising strategy and investor targeting.
• Connect startups with investors across multiple financing paths.
• Explain investor requirements for accessing capital.
• Track portfolio financing needs and outcomes.
• Develop and deepen investor relationships for D3.
• Research and design new capital initiatives as opportunities emerge.
• Support deployment of existing investment vehicles.
