Job summary

Carr, Riggs & Ingram in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Senior Associate, Audit to perform diversified accounting and auditing assignments under supervision and to participate in planning client engagements. Candidates should be CPA-eligible with at least 3 years in public accounting, strong communication skills, and proficiency with accounting software.

This position offers growth within a nationally recognized firm with a broad client base. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Performs diversified accounting and auditing assignments under the direction of supervisor and manager

• Develops understanding of auditing standards and common audit procedures
• Communicates with client to obtain information with minimal disruption to engagement
• Collaborates effectively within team on audits

Essential Functions

• Performs diversified accounting and auditing assignments under the direction of supervisor and manager


• Participates in planning and scheduling client engagements


• Prepares and indexes working papers; performs various procedures established under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to verify accuracy and validity of client’s financial matters


• Begins to develop a command of GAAP, other comprehensive bases of accounting, unique or specialized accounting principles, and financial statement presentations


• Obtains a thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques


• Effectively communicates with client to receive information necessary to complete the engagement with a minimum of disruption to client

Qualifications

• Meets all requirements to sit for CPA exam


• Those possessing CPA certification will be given preference


• Minimum of 3 years in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of auditing and accounting tasks as well as having in charged engagements


• Proficiency in accounting software


• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• Strong organizational and analytical abilities


• Ability to work well in a team environment
