Duties
  1. Lead and manage criminal defense cases from initial arraignment through trial and post-conviction stages
  2. Craft legal documents including motions, pleadings, discovery, and memoranda
  3. Coordinate with co-counsel, paralegals, and investigators as part of a dedicated case team
  4. Represent clients at hearings, trials, and court appearances across Michigan
  5. Devise and execute strategic defense plans including the use of mock trials and focus groups
  6. Conduct legal research using modern platforms and databases
  7. Meet with clients regularly to assess case progress and provide legal guidance
  8. Contribute to internal development by mentoring junior attorneys and supporting team members
  9. Participate in national and regional legal trainings for continued skill development
Requirements
  1. Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
  2. Minimum of 3 years of legal practice experience in criminal defense or equivalent
  3. Demonstrated courtroom presence with at least 5 jury trials, mock trials, or similar advocacy experiences
  4. Ability to think critically and quickly under pressure
  5. Willingness to travel statewide for court matters and across the U.S. for professional training
  6. Comfortable with high-stakes, emotionally intense cases including allegations of abuse or sex crimes
Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

Active admission to the Michigan Bar (Required)

Federal Bar admission is preferred
