Qualifications
- JD required from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances to determine case ramifications.
- Represent clients in court or before government agencies.
- Analyze probable case outcomes using legal precedents.
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Confer with colleagues to establish and verify legal proceedings bases.
- Evaluate findings and develop strategies for case presentations.
- Advise clients on business transactions, claim liability, and legal rights.
- Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals.
- Select jurors, argue motions, and question witnesses during trials.
- Negotiate civil dispute settlements.
- Present and summarize cases to judges and juries.
