ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Senior Associate Advisor plays a critical client-facing role on the advisory team, analyzing client circumstances, developing planning recommendations, and leading the disciplined execution of client strategies in partnership with the Lead Advisor. Independently evaluate alternative planning approaches, identify material risks and trade-offs, and formulate recommendations for consideration by Lead Advisors and clients.
The Lead Advisor owns the overall client relationship, strategic direction, and final recommendations. The Senior Associate Advisor serves as the operating lead for the client relationship, ensuring that client priorities, planning needs, internal deliverables, and follow-up items are clearly organized, thoughtfully managed, and completed with discipline.
This role requires strong financial planning expertise, excellent project management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to coordinate across clients, advisors, internal teams, and outside professionals. The right candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, discreet, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a high-touch family office environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Relationship Management
- Partner with Lead Advisors to support all aspects of the client relationship lifecycle, including prospect engagement, onboarding, ongoing relationship management, planning reviews, implementation, and follow-up.
- Serve as a knowledgeable and responsive point of coordination for assigned client relationships.
- Maintain a deep understanding of each client’s goals, family dynamics, communication preferences, planning priorities, liquidity needs, estate structure, philanthropic interests, and service expectations.
- Anticipate client needs, identify open items, and ensure follow-through across all relationship priorities.
- Maintain complete and accurate client records, workflows, communications, and documentation within the firm’s CRM and technology systems.
Financial Planning and Wealth Strategy
- Lead or materially contribute to the development, review, and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive financial planning analyses.
- Analyze planning topics including cash flow, liquidity, retirement projections, estate planning, wealth transfer, charitable planning, insurance, concentrated assets, tax-aware strategies, and education funding.
- Review and summarize estate documents, tax returns, insurance policies, balance sheets, net worth statements, cash flow reports, and other client financial information.
- Translate complex planning concepts into clear, client-ready summaries, exhibits, and recommendations for Lead Advisor review.
- Partner with Lead Advisors to identify planning opportunities and coordinate implementation.
Meeting Preparation and Follow-Through
- Own the preparation process for recurring client meetings, including agendas, planning updates, portfolio review materials, action item summaries, and supporting exhibits.
- Prepare Lead Advisors to enter client meetings informed, organized, and focused on higher-level relationship and strategy conversations.
- Attend client meetings, capture clear notes, document decisions, identify follow-up items, assign owners, and manage action items through completion.
- Ensure all client materials are accurate, polished, and aligned with the purpose of the meeting.
Project Management and Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the central coordinator for client-related projects that require input from Advisory, Investment Operations, Financial Planning, Trading, Accounting, Investments, and other internal teams.
- Manage timelines, owners, dependencies, and deliverables for planning projects, onboarding workstreams, investment implementation, liquidity reviews, trust and estate coordination, and charitable planning.
- Identify bottlenecks, clarify ownership, elevate issues appropriately, and keep work moving forward.
- Improve internal processes, templates, checklists, meeting preparation workflows, and documentation standards.
Client and Professional Coordination
- Serve as a liaison among clients, advisors, internal teams, and outside professionals, including attorneys, accountants, trustees, insurance advisors, and other centers of influence.
- Facilitate communication, gather and analyze information, and coordinate activities that support client planning and decision-making.
- Exercise discretion and sound judgment when working with sensitive family, financial, estate, and personal information.
Investment and Portfolio Coordination
- Support Lead Advisors in preparing portfolio review materials, asset allocation summaries, liquidity analyses, capital call planning, investment implementation items, and performance review materials.
- Coordinate with investment operations, trading, reporting, and investment teams to ensure client portfolio actions are completed accurately and documented appropriately.
- Connect planning recommendations with portfolio implications, including liquidity needs, tax considerations, charitable giving, estate structures, and cash flow planning.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of JFG’s investment philosophy, public markets implementation, private capital program, liquidity management approach, and reporting process.
Leadership and Team Development
- Serve as a senior resource to Associate Advisors, Advisory Analysts, and client service team members.
- Support training and development by sharing best practices around meeting preparation, financial planning analysis, CRM discipline, client follow-up, and project management.
- Demonstrate leadership through ownership, reliability, collaboration, sound judgment, and a consistent commitment to excellence.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and exceptional client service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, financial planning, economics, accounting, business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in wealth management, financial planning, private banking, an RIA, trust company, multi-family office, single-family office, or a related advisory environment.
- Meaningful experience supporting high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth client relationships.
- Strong working knowledge of financial planning concepts and demonstrated experience preparing, reviewing, or presenting comprehensive financial planning analyses.
- Experience coordinating with outside professionals, including CPAs, estate attorneys, trustees, and insurance advisors.
- Experience participating in client meetings and communicating directly with clients and professional advisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- CFP or CPWA certification strongly preferred.
- CPA, CFA, JD, MBA, or other advanced credential is a plus.
- Experience in a family office or UHNW advisory environment strongly preferred.
- Experience reviewing estate planning documents, tax returns, insurance policies, and trust structures.
- Experience with financial planning software.
- Experience with CRM and portfolio reporting systems.
- Experience responsibly using large language model tools, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
- Experience mentoring junior team members or improving advisory team processes.
Licenses
- Series 65 license or applicable equivalent required, or the ability to obtain the required registration within a specified timeframe.

COMPENSATION
Base salary range: $120,000 - $150,000
