Job summary

Talisman is seeking a Senior Associate focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Modeling to advance quantitative analytics in energy markets. You’ll build models for dispatch optimization, market forecasting, and pricing to support trading, origination, and asset management decisions.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of modeling experience, expertise with optimization tools (Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP), ML/DL (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras), and knowledge of stochastic forecasting and wholesale

Qualifications

• 3+ years of quantitative modeling experience.
• Experience with optimization tools (Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP).
• ML/deep learning experience (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras).
• Knowledge of stochastic modeling and forecasting.
• Understanding of wholesale power markets (ERCOT, CAISO, or other ISOs).
• Background in BESS, renewables, or conventional generation is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance advanced quantitative models for BESS sizing, dispatch, and pricing.
• Support battery storage dispatch optimization and power market forecasting.
• Contribute to structured products pricing and renewable analytics.
• Inform trading, origination, and asset management decisions.

This is an opportunity to build and enhance advanced quantitative models that support:

• Battery storage dispatch optimization
• Power market forecasting (DA, RT, Ancillary Services)
• Structured products pricing
• Renewable energy analytics
• Trading, origination, and asset management decisions

What they're looking for:

• 3+ years of quantitative modeling experience
• Experience with optimization tools (Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, etc.)
• Machine learning/deep learning experience (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras)
• Knowledge of stochastic modeling and forecasting
• Understanding of wholesale power markets (ERCOT, CAISO, or other ISOs)
