Job summary

BORNQUIST INC in Northbrook, IL is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations and financial reporting with strong autonomy. You will partner across the organization to improve financial processes and controls, ensuring accurate, timely information for strategic decision-making.

The role requires leading month-end closes, preparing consolidated statements, and driving process improvements while supporting compliance and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• CPA certification preferred (or actively pursuing).

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages day-to-day accounting functions including A/R, A/P, payroll, cash management, and banking.
• Drives monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with accuracy and deadlines.
• Prepares and consolidates financial statements and schedules (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, variances).
• Reviews account reconciliations, journal entries, and outputs for accuracy.
• Implements and enforces accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Builds budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support planning.
