Starr is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities for the Property business. The role reports to the Controller and ensures the accuracy of financial statements, manages the close process, and supports audits and controls.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience within P&C insurance.
• Experience preparing GAAP and statutory financial statements.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for the Property business, ensuring timeliness and GAAP/statutory compliance.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, schedules, and reports for internal and external filings.
• Manage internal and external audit processes; maintain robust internal controls and audit readiness.
• Partner with Finance, IT, Reinsurance Accounting, and other units to implement data/process improvements; Workday experience is a plus.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, actuarial, FP&A, Reinsurance and other functions to ensure financial information accuracy.
• Train, mentor, and develop junior staff to foster continuous improvement.
