Starr is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee all accounting and financial reporting for the Property segment. You will lead the monthly close, prepare GAAP/statutory statements, and drive audit processes, controls, and system improvements.

The role requires strong leadership, expert knowledge of P&C insurance accounting, and collaboration with underwriting, claims, actuarial, FP&A, and other stakeholders. Excellent communication and mentoring skills are essential.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred)
• CPA certification strongly preferred
• 8+ years accounting/finance experience in P&C insurance
• GAAP and statutory financial statements preparation/review experience
• Workday Financials or similar ERP experience
• Strong internal controls and audit processes knowledge
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Responsabilidades

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close for the Property business ensuring GAAP compliance
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for management and regulatory filings
• Manage internal and external audit processes and internal controls
• Collaborate with IT, Reinsurance, and FP&A on data, systems, and process improvements
• Support cross-functional partners to ensure accuracy of financial information
• Coach and develop junior staff and promote continuous process improvement
