Job summary

Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT), a leading turbomachinery and jet engine aerospace engineering company based in Jupiter, Florida, is seeking an experienced senior accounting professional. This role leads monthly close, financial reporting, and compliance activities, supporting project accounting and audits with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, and hands-on expertise with ERP systems

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll accounting.
  • Prepare business-unit financial reports, variance analyses, and management reporting packages.
  • Support project accounting, job costing, revenue recognition, and project-margin analysis.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to auditor requests.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate activities and improve accounting processes.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop accounting employees.
  • Partner with engineering and project-management teams to review costs, estimates, change orders, and profitability.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export‑controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
  • Support and ensure high level of accuracy.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll accounting.
  • Prepare business‑unit financial reports, variance analyses, and management reporting packages.
  • Support project accounting, job costing, revenue recognition, work‑in‑progress reporting, and project‑margin analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to auditor requests.
  • Assist the Business Unit Controller with financial analysis and operational reviews.
  • Identify accounting issues, control deficiencies, financial risks.
  • Partner with engineering and project‑management teams to review project costs, estimates, change orders, and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate activities and improve accounting processes.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop accounting employees.
  • Perform special projects assigned by the Business Unit Controller.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Experience And Skills
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting, and financial‑reporting principles. Conceptual understanding of differences between GAAP and IFRS is desired.
  • SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit coordination. Financial reporting and general‑ledger management.
  • Project accounting, job costing, revenue recognition, and contract accounting with prior experience with government accounting strongly desired.
  • Financial‑statement preparation, account reconciliations, and journal‑entry review.
  • Experience with managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
  • Accuracy, integrity, organization, and professional judgment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Process improvement and automation.
  • Analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional communication.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience. Prior public accounting or large company experience strongly desired.
  • Proficiency with ERP and financial‑reporting systems; advanced Microsoft Excel. Prior experience with Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred.
  • Federal Government contract accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Office/open cubicle environment.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion using common tools/equipment of the trade.
  • Ability to lift, grasp, sit, stand, bend, type, and see computer screen.
