Internally, we emphasize collaboration, accountability, and continuous process improvement to support our growth and deliver a high level of service on every deal.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Asset Manager who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment. The Asset Management team is responsible for maximizing recovery on distressed loans and managing REO assets acquired through foreclosure. This role will oversee watchlist loans, workout negotiations, borrower communications, recovery planning, REO management, and disposition activities while working closely with construction management, legal counsel, and senior leadership. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in a commercial lending environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all watchlist loans — reviewing collateral performance, borrower behavior, construction progress, and repayment risk.
  • Identify emerging distress signals early and develop action plans before loans deteriorate further.
  • Negotiate forbearance agreements, loan modifications, and maturity extensions for non-performing borrowers.
  • Pursue consensual resolutions: deeds in lieu, discounted payoffs, and settlement agreements.
  • Receive escalated loans and immediately assess risk posture, next steps, and timeline.
Workout & Recovery Strategy
  • Develop and execute recovery strategies for non-performing loans in the portfolio.
  • Evaluate litigation vs. consensual resolution on a loan-by-loan basis, coordinating with legal counsel as needed.
  • Prepare detailed asset-level business plans and recovery projections for each distressed or REO asset.
  • Drive overall recovery maximization — evaluating hold, complete, refinance, restructure, and liquidate alternatives.
  • Maintain a running recovery log and report regularly to senior leadership on portfolio-level distressed asset status.
Construction Distress Management
  • Evaluate stalled construction projects, remaining cost-to-complete, contractor performance, and permit status.
  • Develop completion strategies for distressed or foreclosed construction projects.
  • Coordinate with construction management staff regarding budget overruns, delays, and funding requirements.
REO Management & Completion
  • Manage all REO assets acquired through foreclosure — from intake through final disposition.
  • Oversee property preservation, security, insurance, taxes, utilities, and ongoing maintenance.
  • For incomplete projects acquired via foreclosure: manage permitting, contractor procurement, and construction completion.
  • Engage brokers, develop marketing strategies, and manage disposition to maximize recovery value.
  • Coordinate stabilization and prepare assets for sale, refinance, or other exit strategies.
Qualifications
  • Familiarity with distressed real estate, REO disposition, and deed-in-lieu transactions.
  • Familiarity with fix and flip, bridge, and light to heavy rehab construction loan structures.
  • Understanding of mechanic's lien laws and construction loan title insurance endorsements.
  • Strong ability to manage a large, active pipeline with multiple simultaneous matters and deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and Google Sheets; experience with loan management, construction management, and/or document management software a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly with outside counsel, borrowers, and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Naturally inquisitive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in daily activities.
  • Ability to flexibly adjust priorities in a changing environment.
  • Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic and high level of personal accountability.
  • Positive personality with a high level of integrity.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, with direct exposure to real estate lending.
  • Experience working for or with a private lender, hard money lender, or mortgage company strongly preferred.
