Senior Asset Management Specialist

Location : Remote (Greater Joliet Area / South & Southwest Suburbs of Chicago)

Schedule : Monday - Thursday, 34 hours per week

Employment Type : Full-Time Exempt

Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) is seeking a Senior Asset Management Specialist to plan water and sewer infrastructure condition assessment projects, and lead technicians in completing field work, properly recording data and coding imagery. Analyze data, prepare written reports and meet with utility staff to explain findings and recommendations. Assist small utilities in preparing, updating and implementing Asset Management or CMOM programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Lead condition assessment projects ensuring methods are carried out properly, safety is maintained, and goals are met to satisfy deliverables.
  • Operate equipment including valve exercisers, sewer cameras, smoke testing equipment, SL-RAT, metering, leak detection, and GPS equipment to inspect and record the condition of water and sewer utility assets.
  • Lead technicians in retrieving and managing data, analyzing and coding imagery, updating GIS data, and assembling data and maps into reports.
  • Respond to project inquiries, assess client needs, develop condition assessment project scope of work plans, and cost estimates. Assist in preparing contracts and reporting on completed deliverables.
  • Transport, clean, and maintain water and sewer condition assessment, geospatial and ancillary computer equipment, vehicles, and trailers. Procure parts, supplies and equipment maintenance services. Maintain clean and organized equipment storage spaces.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and problems. Repair, or schedule repairs, to equipment to efficiently return them to service.
  • Schedule equipment for field use. Maintain internal inventory lists and maintenance records.
  • Perform asset management planning tasks to complete asset management or CMOM plans and asset management updates.
  • Prepare inspection project reports, community asset inventories and basic infrastructure maps, and present results and recommendations to utility staff.
  • Deliver on-site training, classroom and virtual training for utility staff.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.

Education :

Bachelor's degree related to water / wastewater operations, geospatial technologies, civil engineering, public health, environmental science, natural resources / conservation biology, or equivalent combination of training and experience in related fields.

Experience :

Minimum Three years' experience working with water or sewer utilities, utility mapping, utility locating, civil engineering technician, soil and water conservation or remediation, environmental testing, geospatial technologies. Five years' experience working with MS Word and Excel and / or Google Docs and Sheets or equivalent word processing and spreadsheet programs.

Additional Requirements :

  • Initial and periodic Motor Vehicle Records checks, maintain a valid driver's license, and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Must have insured, dependable transportation available for daily use.
  • Must submit to initial and / or periodic state and / or federal criminal checks.
  • Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to be reached by cellular phone during business hours and after hours.
