Advantest America is seeking an experienced Senior Assembly Soldering Technician in Chandler, AZ to support the Assembly Department. You will assemble, solder, test, and train staff, ensuring quality across electronic units per BOM and drawings.

You will read technical data, prepare parts, and mentor teammates to improve processes while supporting efficient workflow and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience soldering with leaded and lead-free assemblies.
• Ability to read technical data, assembly instructions and engineering prints.
• Experience mentoring and training other staff.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and repair electronic units using prescribed techniques.
• Install components, sub-assemblies, wiring and casings with hand or power tools.
• Perform solder touch-ups and ensure leaded/lead-free quality.
• Identify correct parts and materials for assembly and repair.
• Solder components using industry-standard techniques and tools.
• Replace failed components and verify proper operation of assemblies.
• Operate assembly machines and monitor function.
• Conduct routine quality checks and document results.
• Read and interpret engineering documentation and maintain records.
• Mentor and train other staff on processes.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Senior Assembly Soldering Technician to support our Assembly Department. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication and organizational skills, be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work efficiently. The Senior Assembly Soldering Technician is responsible for efficient and accurate assembly, preparation of parts and testing of a wide variety of products using the Bill of Material, drawings and other documentation included in the traveler package. Additionally, the Senior Assembly Soldering Technician will help train partners and help develop processes.

Responsibilities include

• Assemble and repair a variety of electronic units using prescribed repair techniques.
• Assemble electrical or electronic systems and support structures; install components, units, sub-assemblies, wiring, and assembly casings, using electric/pneumatic drivers or any applicable hand tools.
• Ability to perform quality solder touch up on leaded and lead free assemblies. Includes ability to populate PTF assemblies as required.
• Identify correct parts, components, wires, and materials needed for assembly and repair.
• Solder electronic components using industry-standard techniques and tools.
• Remove suspect and failed components and install new components accurately.
• Operate assembly machines and ensure proper functioning.
• Perform routine Quality Control checks; identify and remove/replace/repair any defects or non-conformities. Inspect boards for proper assembly including missing parts, solder quality and clipped leads.
• Read and interpret technical data including component maintenance manuals, assembly instructions, and engineering prints.
• Communicate work status to team members and support staff, ensuring seamless workflow.
• Document clearly and concisely and maintain accurate records.
• Utilize computer skills and office software applications.
