Job summary

Leonardo DRS, in San Diego, CA, seeks a Senior Assembler to perform advanced assembly, rework, inspection, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, cable/harness, and PCB assemblies. You will work with minimal supervision to build quality products per engineering drawings and customer requirements.

The role requires IPC soldering/inspection certifications, plus experience with first-article builds, engineering changes, or Lean/6S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5+ years in a specialty area (e.g. welding, tool making).
• IPC, soldering, rework, or inspection certification relevant to the work area.
• Experience supporting first-article builds, engineering changes, or continuous-improvement activities.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or electronics manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, solder, rework, and repair complex components and subassemblies.
• Read and follow drawings, wiring diagrams, work orders, bills of material, and process instructions.
• Use hand tools, fixtures, measuring devices, and production equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform in-process and final inspections to verify quality and workmanship.
• Troubleshoot routine production, tooling, and material issues; elevate complex concerns as needed.
• Support first-article builds, engineering changes, process improvements, and Lean/6S activities.
• Complete production, inspection, and labor documentation accurately.
• Follow all safety, ESD, PPE, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Maintain an organized work area and assist with training less-experienced team members.Must be trained across all assembly stages, work w/Engineering to build 1st articles by interpreting print/specification with no process provided and the ability to interpret/assemble all units in dept
