Ankura’s Data & Technology Practice includes client services in the areas of Analytics & Data Strategy, eDiscovery & Cyber Security. Our Data & Technology team helps our internal and external customers design, execute and test cutting edge solutions in each of our respective areas.

Role Overview:

As a Senior AI Engineer and Data Scientist (Director) in the Data Analytics & AI practice you will evaluate potential modeling approaches, build features, implement and operationalize algorithms with your fellow AI Engineers and Data Scientists and drive meaningful advances to the quality and breadth of ML and LLM solutions. This role offers the chance to work on challenging projects, collaborate with talented professionals, and contribute to the success of leading organizations across industries.

This role is remote, located in the United States

Responsibilities:

  • Applying AI (Machine Learning, Generative AI), and analytics techniques to develop analytics solutions to business problems.
  • Developing, maintaining, and deploying analytics software.
  • Evaluate and implement AI infrastructure, MLOps/LLMOps best practices, and cloud-based AI deployments.
  • Understanding the market need, competitive landscape; identifying differentiators and opportunities for our products/solutions.
  • Proven experience in AI practice development, including presales activities, solution positioning, and strategic client engagement.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate AI capabilities, value propositions, and business impact to clients and stakeholders.
  • Establishing effective relationships with internal analytics, consulting, research teams and other key stakeholders to quickly bring products, tools, and models to market

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics or another analytical area.
  • 10+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, and data science, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading LLM-driven projects, including fine-tuning, RAG, and prompt engineering.
  • Deep expertise in NLP, deep learning, and AI model deployment at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Mistral, Llama), vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, Pgvector), and MLOps frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, and AI/ML cloud services.
  • Experience deploying AI models in production-grade applications with security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Understanding of data pipelines, data engineering, and feature engineering for ML.
  • Experience with at least one of the clouds (GCP, AWS or Azure).
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and ability to drive AI adoption across an organization.
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex AI concepts into business value.

Nice to have:

  • Masters in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Experience working in Consulting, or Tech Advisory firms.
  • Experience with AI safety, AI governance, and responsible AI practices.
  • Prior work in AI research or contributions to open-source AI projects.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or New York, Ankura is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the said markets and considers a broad range of factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The range does not include additional benefits outside of salary. At Ankura, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each role. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range is between $130, 000 to $240,000; this range is not a promise of a particular wage.
