Job summary

Activision Blizzard in Santa Monica, CA is seeking an Associate Art Director to partner with the Creative Director and guide the visual direction of a mobile 3D project. You will oversee all visual disciplines to ensure a cohesive, high-quality experience tied to an established IP.

Responsibilities include reviewing concepts, providing actionable feedback, and supporting internal and partner teams to uphold the project’s artistic goals and brand identity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional game development experience, including senior, lead, supervisory, or art direction roles.
• Strong artistic judgment across multiple visual disciplines and stylized art direction.
• Experience collaborating with external developers or distributed teams; IP & brand stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Creative Director to maintain the project’s artistic vision, visual identity, and quality bar.
• Provide creative oversight across character, enemy, environment, animation, VFX, UI, and concept.
• Review concepts, WIPs, milestone submissions, and game content with clear, actionable feedback.
• Create art direction notes, paintovers, references, benchmarks, and feedback packages.
• Collaborate with Design, Production, Marketing, and other stakeholders to align visuals with broader goals.
• Contribute to concepts, paintovers, mockups, and visual content to communicate direction.
