Job summary

Activision Santa Monica seeks an Associate Art Director to lead visual direction for a mobile 3D project. You’ll partner with the Creative Director and cross-functional teams to uphold a cohesive art style across characters, environments, VFX, UI, and assets, ensuring authenticity to an established IP.

In this on-site role (4 days/week in Santa Monica, CA), you’ll review concepts, provide actionable feedback, and guide art direction notes and paintovers while collaborating with internal teams

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional game development experience, including senior or art director roles.
• Strong artistic judgment across visual disciplines.
• Ability to maintain visual quality for mobile 3D project.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Creative Director to maintain the project’s artistic vision, visual identity, and quality bar.
• Provide creative oversight across character, environment, animation, VFX, UI, and other visual disciplines.
• Ensure content feels authentic to the IP while supporting stylized identity.
• Review concepts, WIPs, milestones, and game content, providing actionable feedback.
• Create art direction notes, paintovers, references, benchmarks, and feedback packages for teams and partners.
• Collaborate with Design, Production, Marketing, and other stakeholders to align visual direction with product goals.
• Produce concepts, paintovers, mockups, and presentation materials to communicate direction.
