Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Senior Architect or Architectural Engineer to lead and grow our Civil & Structural Engineering practice across multiple US locations, including Irvine. The role focuses on root-cause analysis of building envelope failures, field investigations, and clear technical reporting, while guiding projects and client engagements.

Travel and leadership are essential. Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D.

Qualifications

Ph.D. or Master’s in Architectural Engineering or Architecture and 2–3 years of consulting experience related to buildings.
Legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship.
Professional license in Engineering (PE) and/or Architecture (AIA) in the United States.
Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to present to specialists and non‑specialists.
Clear written communication and technical writing skills are required.
Dedication to quality and accuracy.
Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

Inspect, analyze, and determine root causes of building envelope/material failures.
Conduct analytical and computer problem solving.
Perform field investigations and diagnostic surveys.
Prepare technical reports and presentations.
Market to new and existing clients.
Manage projects successfully.
