Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking a licensed Architect to join our Missoula or Bozeman office. You will lead design and delivery of architectural projects, coordinate with consultants, and mentor junior staff. Experience in high-end residential, multi-family, or commercial architecture is a plus.

The role emphasizes independent problem-solving, building codes, and firm standards, with opportunities to lead teams and contribute to client relationships across diverse project types.

Qualifications

• NAAB-accredited architecture degree
• Current architectural license/registration
• 8+ years of progressive experience
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; strong Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, and MS Office

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring high-quality delivery
• Lead small project teams, reviewing work to maintain standards and provide guidance
• Independently prepare and coordinate architectural drawings and BIM models across multiple project phases
• Lead the development of schematic design and design development concepts with project leadership
• Translate project goals into a clear vision and produce original, engaging solutions
• Review work for compliance with project requirements, codes, and quality standards
• Coordinate architectural scope with engineering consultants and other disciplines
• Prepare and review construction documents for accuracy and constructability
• Perform code analysis and support permitting and regulatory review processes
• Develop and refine construction cost estimates with project teams
• Lead construction administration activities on small to medium projects
• Conduct site observations, prepare field reports, and resolve construction issues
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to studio leadership
• Maintain and develop client relationships
• Seal and sign permit documents as assigned
• Operate independently with sound judgment; escalate issues as needed
• May supervise staff and manage performance and workload
