Job summary

Bobbitt is seeking an Architect in Cary, NC to collaborate with design teams and stakeholders to plan, design, and deliver on-time, in-budget commercial spaces. The role emphasizes constructible designs, code-compliant documentation, and coordination with internal and external teams.

The ideal candidate will hold an Architecture degree (NAAB) with strong Revit and 3D visualization skills, plus a mix of organizational, analytical, and communicative abilities to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (NAAB Accredited Program required).
• Proficient in Revit and 3D visualization.
• Understanding of design principles, practices, and tools.
• Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
• Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Consult with and provide guidance to project stakeholders and staff regarding design/construction requirements.
• Network and promote Bobbitt Design and Construction teams.
• Develop constructible, efficient, code-compliant designs through programming, schematic, and design development stages for internal pricing.
• Develop clear and accurate construction documents for submittal.
• Review and collaborate on construction documents with internal/external teams for best practices.
• Coordinate staff for project planning and design; oversee field questions to keep construction on track.
• Collaborate with external mechanical, electrical, structural, site, and specialty consultants.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

This role works with associated Bobbitt Group team members including business development, civil engineering, interior design, estimating, construction management, and field superintendents while promoting a positive and safe work environment, and works closely with clients and stakeholders to help their vision become reality in a fun, efficient, cost-effective, and timely completed project.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Consult with and provide guidance to project stakeholders and staff regarding requirements for design and/or construction of various projects
• Network and promote Bobbitt Design and Construction teams
• Develop constructible, efficient, code-compliant designs utilizing programming, schematic, and design development stages for internal pricing by estimators and client review
• Develop clear and accurate construction documents for submittal
• Review and collaborate on construction documents with the internal design and construction teams and external subcontractors for best practices and methods
• Keep project files and document job evolution as required by the scope of the project
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of construction practices
• Continually collaborate with the numerous Bobbitt Group team experts
• Monitor project progress via the online Project Management system as well as on-site meetings to ensure design specifications, safety, and standards are met
• Investigate and respond to field questions posed by consultants and construction personnel to expedite field construction
• Assist team as necessary for close-out of projects
• Coordinate staff members regarding project planning and design
• Coordinate with external mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural, site, and specialty consultants
• Consult and coordinate with construction personnel during construction
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Design Quality & Delivery

• Constructible, efficient, code-compliant designs delivered through programming, schematic, and design development stages
• Clear, accurate construction documents developed for submittal
• Design specifications, safety, and standards upheld throughout construction, monitored via the online Project Management system and site visits

Collaboration & Coordination

• Effective coordination maintained with internal design/construction teams and external subcontractors
• Staff coordinated effectively regarding project planning and design
• External MEP, structural, site, and specialty consultants coordinated effectively

Client & Field Support

• Field questions from consultants and construction personnel investigated and resolved promptly to keep construction on track
• Client and stakeholder vision translated into a fun, efficient, cost-effective, and timely completed project
• Bobbitt Design and Construction teams actively networked and promoted

Required Knowledge, Experience & Competencies

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture (NAAB Accredited Program required)

Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Competencies

• Licensed and approaching completion of AXP encouraged to apply

Work Format

This position requires team collaboration and presence at in-person meetings and is best suited to a traditional work schedule. Occasional remote work is acceptable.

Travel Requirements

• Occasional travel (10-15%) to meetings and events within 150-mile radius of office
• Occasional travel to various job site locations as needed for photography or milestone events

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction sites in all types of weather
• Ability to sit in extended meetings
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
• Valid Driver's License
