Job summary

Esri in Redlands, CA is seeking a software tester to design and build automated tests for ArcGIS. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers to stress code, automate test scenarios and improve product quality for customers worldwide.

You will learn best practices from seasoned developers, design test strategies, and reuse ArcGIS SDKs to develop coding samples. The role emphasizes quality, automation, and continuous learning in a dynamic GIS software environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software testing experience.
• Experience with an application development language such as C#, Java or Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A self-motivated team player with an interest in continuous learning and building software products.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, geography, GIS, mathematics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and author test cases with engineers.
• Assess product quality and release readiness.
• Identify and troubleshoot the causes of product issues and limitations.
• Learn existing product technologies and troubleshoot production issues in current and past software platform versions.
• Test software components and their functionality through the user interface and provide feedback on user experience.
• Document software issues found during testing; reproduce bugs and work closely with Software Development Engineers to resolve these issues.
• Design and execute test strategies and test cases for functional requirements.
• Monitor and analyze test results; collaborate across teams to ensure software quality and release readiness.
• Reduce manual testing efforts by building and maintaining automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Appium or SilkTest.
• Develop and maintain ways to share test results and status to the wider team.
• Develop coding samples using public ArcGIS SDKs.
