Job summary

Datadog is seeking a Staff Application Security Engineer to set the technical direction for application security at scale. You’ll define frameworks, patterns, and secure-by-default practices across engineering teams and become the go-to expert for complex security programs.

You’ll partner with product and engineering teams to shape the AppSec roadmap, drive secure design reviews, and implement tooling that delivers meaningful risk signals across Datadog's platforms, including AI-enabled features.

Qualifications

• Software engineering background with hands-on code review experience.
• Experience with Go, Python, or Rust.
• Strong knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and web vulnerabilities.
• Experience leading threat modeling on complex, multi-team systems.
• Ability to translate risk into security investments.
• Familiarity with software supply chain security.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive security standards as the AppSec SME.
• Build tooling and automation to scale security practices.
• Lead threat modeling and risk assessment for high-risk features.
• Assess risks from AI-powered features in production.
• Partner with engineering to prioritize and remediate threats.
• Identify systemic risks and lead remediation end-to-end.
• Collaborate with Cloud & Infrastructure Security on cross-domain problems.
• Be the AppSec expert for engineering leadership.
• Invest in growth of AppSec engineers.
