The System Intelligence and Machine Learning (SIML) organization at Apple is seeking a senior multimodal Generative model expert to help shape future device perception, understanding, and anticipation of human interactions. You will develop techniques for modeling natural human interactions with objects, devices, and humans. Description

We seek a research engineer with strong ML and Generative modeling skills to define project goals, collaborate across teams, learn quickly, and implement new user experiences using large Foundation models. You will build innovative technology, foster collaborations, influence multi-functional teams, and iterate solutions in a dynamic environment.

Your focus will be on advancing human interaction modeling at system and core ML algorithm levels, tackling challenges like perceiving subtle cues, managing streaming inputs, reasoning over temporal contexts, developing memory systems, and generating rich internal representations for downstream tasks. You will deliver solutions ready for production, such as APIs for ML models or algorithms integrated into training infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years of experience building and deploying large ML models
• Expertise in SOTA large auto-regressive transformer models, multi-modal encoders, and representation learning
• Proficiency in Python and software engineering principles in ML codebases
• Strong organizational skills and experience working with diverse, cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multimodal large language models (LLMs)
• Track record of deploying innovative ML tech in production
• Knowledge of ML development for resource-constrained devices
• Publications in peer-reviewed venues in relevant areas

Pay & Benefits
