Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to lead and mentor in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary AI initiative. You will work on Just Walk Out technology and scalable computer vision challenges, collaborating with diverse teams across locations.

The role emphasizes advanced ML research, framework development, and solving novel problems at scale while influencing product impact for millions of customers.

Qualifications

• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

Responsibilities

• As a Sr. Applied Scientist, you will help solve a variety of technical challenges and mentor other scientists.
• You will be the thought leader of the team.
• You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and given the size of this initiative, you’ll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations.
• Develop a novel framework and advance the theory and practice of multi-object tracking, re-identification, person activity understanding, multi-modal foundation model, and generic video understanding
• Create innovative techniques for efficient visual processing that can scale to real-world applications
• Investigate approaches to reduce the computational and data requirements of visual AI systems
