Job summary

Amazon in Seattle, WA is seeking a Sr. Applied Scientist, Classification and Policy Platform to advance machine learning models that monitor and classify billions of catalog items, ensuring compliance and a safe shopping experience at scale.

You will work with backend, data engineering, and product teams to design features, run experiments, and translate data insights into actionable roadmaps while mentoring colleagues.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of applied research experience.
• 3+ years building machine learning models for business applications.
• PhD, or MS + 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing new features and machine learning models, including state-of-the-art deep learning for search matching and ranking.
• Coordinate process development for efficient model development with strong customer focus.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to expand product insights, run experiments, and plan high-impact projects.
• Provide technical and scientific guidance to team members.
• Communicate effectively with senior management and cross-functional partners.
• Foster data-driven decision making across teams to optimize customer impact.
