Job summary

foundry10 is seeking a Senior Researcher, Applied Machine Learning to join a new ML Learning Team. The role combines independent research with multidisciplinary collaboration across project teams and external institutions to advance learning outcomes.

You will design, implement, and evaluate ML models and research pipelines, communicating findings through publications, prototypes, or tools. A PhD and demonstrated research impact in education are highly valued; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• PhD in ML or related discipline.
• 2-5 years post-PhD experience.
• First author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL).
• Experience in both academia and industry preferred.
• Experience with Transformer-based models (e.g. GPT, Llama), model pipelines, pretraining, finetuning, reinforcement learning.
• Practical experience independently leading and conducting applied research with minimal supervision.
• Experience with ML data structures and models, software architecture, framework, and Python libraries (Pandas, PyTorch, NumPy).
• End-to-end project design, execution and completion.
• Experience with design/development of software tools, preferably for a variety of age groups.
• Experience with diverse data sets and synthetic data generation.
• Experience mentoring and/or managing students or research staff.
• Strong background in research ethics, particularly involving children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, design, build, adapt, and evaluate ML models, research systems, datasets, prototypes, analytic pipelines, and, where appropriate, software or hardware-enabled tools.
• Think critically about data quality, experimental design, and responsible AI practices.
• Develop predictive analytics, statistical modeling, data mining and machine learning algorithms.
• Collaborate to define output goals for the project team and lead operations/partnership tasks as needed.
• Represent foundry10 at conferences and in publications and with external partners.
