Job summary

Lumen is seeking highly technical, product-minded Senior Lead Applied AI Scientists to design, build, deploy, and continually improve production-scale AI solutions across agents, generative AI, ML, and more. You will partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to translate high-value opportunities into measurable AI-powered outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years in applied AI, ML, or data science with production deployments.
• Proven track record delivering AI solutions with measurable business impact.
• Deep expertise in ML, statistics, experimentation, and modern AI techniques.
• Hands-on with LLMs, RAG, agentic, and ML solutions.
• Experience with AI evaluation, model performance, and production monitoring.
• Proficient in Python and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, MLflow.
• Experience with MLOps/LLMOps and cloud AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI solutions from concept to production.
• Partner with business/product teams to define success metrics and validate value.
• Develop AI systems leveraging ML, generative AI, retrieval, and agents.
• Define evaluation frameworks for quality, reliability, safety, and cost.
• Collaborate with Engineering to deliver scalable production-ready solutions.
• Contribute reusable frameworks and standards to accelerate AI adoption.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on complex AI initiatives.
