Job summary

Capital One is building world-class AI foundations in Cambridge, MA. This IC role drives strategic research with Applied Science, Engineering and Product leaders, mentoring non-direct reports while representing Capital One in the research community.

You will partner with data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered financial products and platforms at scale, shaping long-term research direction and foundational investments in AI innovation.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields plus 6 years of Applied Research experience or MS plus 8 years of Applied Research experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
• Develop AI foundation models from design to training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
• Engage in high-impact applied research and push AI innovations into customer experiences.
• Translate complex research into tangible business goals and roadmaps.
