Job summary

2-CM Technologies, LLC in Maryland (Visionist HQ) seeks a Senior Applied AI Engineer – Software Engineering Level 3 to design and deliver production AI applications that let analysts interact with mission data via natural language and automation.

You will work with mission customers to rapidly prototype capabilities, deploy backend services, and guide scalable AI systems while mentoring junior engineers and shaping technical direction.

Qualifications

• Experience designing distributed backend software.
• Experience building AI-enabled apps with LLMs, RAG or AI agents.
• Experience developing REST APIs and integrating data sources.
• Experience with SQL/Elasticsearch or similar.
• Strong software architecture and OO design.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience collaborating with mission customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production AI-enabled software applications.
• Architect and implement LLM-powered workflows and RAG pipelines.
• Develop backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Translate natural language requests into deterministic analytical workflows through mission data sources.
• Collaborate with mission stakeholders to prototype customer-focused AI solutions.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources into scalable AI applications.
• Evaluate emerging AI frameworks, models, and software engineering techniques for mission applicability.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical architecture and standards.
