Job summary
The Ideal Tridon Group seeks an Applications Engineer or Senior Applications Engineer in Smyrna, TN to support automotive, heavy-duty and industrial OEM markets. You will partner with sales to identify customer requirements, design clamping solutions, and validate through DV testing.
The role emphasizes APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, SolidWorks proficiency, and strong communication. Travel may be required to support customers and suppliers across the portfolio.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology required.
- Eight+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing, automotive/industrial markets preferred.
- SolidWorks experience (3-5 years) and proficiency with MS Office/ MS Project.
- Experience with APQP, DOE, DVP&R, DFMEA and PFMEA.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Design/Manufacturing, 5S, TS 16949 and ISO 14001.
- Ability to travel, including international travel.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop clamping solutions to customer requirements within APQP guidelines.
- Conduct product validation testing relative to customer needs and industry standards.
- Lead DFMEA, PFMEA and related quality activities; support APQP meetings.
- Provide technical support to sales and purchasing; communicate clearly with customers.
