Job summary

Western Digital Corporation in Fremont seeks a Senior Engineer for Applications Engineering (APC) to design, implement, and sustain Advanced Process Control systems. You will work with process, equipment and IT engineers to deploy scalable APC solutions that improve yield, cycle time, and equipment productivity.

You will help integrate predictive and data-driven methods, leveraging ML, virtual metrology, and advanced analytics to detect drift, reduce variability, and minimize scrap in wafer

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Engineering or related field required.
• Experience with semiconductor R2R control and FDC systems.
• Strong analytical and programming skills; familiarity with JMP, Python, and multivariate analysis.
• Knowledge of semiconductor processing technologies and IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Implement APC solutions with Process, Equipment, IT teams.
• Lead APC/automation projects through production release and measure gains.
• Develop and optimize FDC models for real-time fault detection.
• Configure and deploy new control strategies and automation recipes.
• Develop and tune run-to-run control models using feedback and feed-forward algorithms.
• Create advanced FDC models for scrap prevention and predictive maintenance.
• Conduct system integration testing for R2R, FDC, and host systems.
• Maintain R2R and FDC systems; monitor performance and drive improvements.
• Increase use of predictive maintenance using FDC+ML to reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot issues and support recovery during failures.
• Contribute to roadmap planning for future APC capabilities.
• Collaborate in fast-paced cross-functional environment and model continuous improvement.
