Job summary

Blue Cross NC in Durham seeks a Senior Business Systems Analyst to elicit, prioritize, and convert business requirements into precise system specifications, ensuring designs are traceable to business needs and guide IT solution delivery.

You’ll partner with business analysts, developers, designers, and testers to define solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and maintain end-to-end traceability from requirements through deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required).
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex business needs, system requirements, data challenges, and end-to-end business and technical workflows.
• Evaluate and prioritize business and functional requirements, identifying underlying business needs and translating them into clear system-level solutions.
• Develop functional designs and specifications for new, customized, or enhanced systems, including application interfaces and workflows.
• Identify system impacts, gaps, risks, dependencies, and operational considerations associated with proposed solutions.
• Partner with business analysts, developers, designers, subject matter experts, and other technical teams to define solutions and evaluate technical tradeoffs.
• Recommend system changes, enhancements, or retirements based on business requirements and existing system functionality.
• Maintain traceability from business requirements through design, development, and implementation to ensure solutions meet intended business objectives.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members and coordinate work across larger or more complex initiatives.

What You Bring

Salary Range

At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
