Job summary

Oracle Government Defense & Intelligence seeks a Principal Application Software Engineer to design, build, and operate secure application services for sovereign and government cloud environments. This senior technical contributor leads complex design and implementation work and serves as a technical lead for AI-enabled software capabilities.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship with TS/SCI security clearance at hire.
• 11 years of software development experience or advanced degree and related experience.
• 6 years programming and/or scripting experience.
• 4 years of database experience.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and operating distributed services.
• Demonstrated code review, automation, quality assurance, secure development practices, and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of secure, scalable application features and APIs.
• Develop guidance for new features with specs, plans, and docs.
• Lead code reviews and coach on security, quality, and operational readiness.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, API, and production issues.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, scalability, performance, and reviews.
• Implement testing, observability, monitoring, and logging practices.
• Collaborate with product, QA, operations, security, and customers to align delivery with mission needs.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring and standards.
