Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Staff Application Security Engineer - Threat Research to secure modern healthcare technology across cloud and enterprise environments. You will embed security throughout the software development lifecycle, conduct assessments, research threats, and build scalable security solutions while guiding multiple teams.

You will influence security practices, mentor engineers, and contribute to security tooling and automation to improve overall posture and resilience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in application security, information security, software engineering, or related roles.
• 5+ years of experience with programming or scripting languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C/C++, PowerShell, or Shell scripting.
• 3+ years of experience securing public cloud environments (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
• 3+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code or Security as Code.
• 3+ years of experience performing application security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and threat modeling.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support application security standards, policies, and best practices.
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate security into design, development, testing, and deployment processes.
• Promote secure coding practices and remediate security findings.
• Contribute to security automation initiatives for efficiency and scalability.
• Research emerging threats, perform threat modeling, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Design and support security technologies across cloud and enterprise environments.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, platform teams, and security stakeholders.
• Participate in design reviews to embed security requirements early in the lifecycle.
• Assist in incident response and operational security across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge through training and documentation.
