Job summary

Confluent is seeking a Staff Application Security Engineer to lead the security architecture for our distributed cloud-native offerings. You will partner with Engineering and Product teams to embed security by design across on-prem and cloud deployments, shaping the security posture of the ecosystem.

You will drive threat modeling, perform security design reviews, and build automation to scale secure software delivery.

Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on application security experience.
Experience securing CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployments.
Ability to lead cross-functional security initiatives.

Responsibilities

Partner with Engineering, Product and Platform teams to identify security risks early and guide secure-by-design practices.
Define and standardize threat modeling frameworks and security design standards; lead design reviews for complex systems.
Oversee security code reviews and API security testing; provide remediation guidance.
Architect and drive roadmap for security automation and scalable tooling for security operations and vulnerability management.
Deploy automation and orchestration frameworks that integrate security into cloud-native deployment pipelines.
Identify new vulnerability classes; lead research and tabletop exercises to stay ahead of threats.
Deploy advanced controls to maximize observability and harden attack surfaces across the ecosystem.
