Job summary

Uniti Group Inc. is seeking a Senior Application Programmer to advance the NOC Portal. The role emphasizes modern front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript) and Python back-end development, with PHP maintenance for incremental migration.

Qualifications

• College degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Strong full-stack web development experience with modern front-end and back-end.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks (React/Vue/Angular).
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Azure tools.
• Git and code management; familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools.
• Proficient in Linux, web servers, and database interactions.
• RESTful APIs, LDAP, OAuth2 and related web services experience.
• Shell scripting/ETL; cron jobs; Airflow knowledge is a plus.

About This Role

The Senior Application Programmer is part of a team dedicated to improving the user experience, data integrity, and business processes through the development and maintenance of the NOC Portal and its supporting tools. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to contribute to this effort.

This role focuses on the modernization of the NOC Portal - the emphasis is on modern front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript) and Python back-end development. Working knowledge of PHP is needed to maintain and incrementally replace the existing application.

• System Development: Participate in the architecture, configuration, development, deployment, integration, testing, and maintenance of NOC Portal systems.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
• System Improvement: Identify areas for modification in current NOC Portal systems and develop these improvements.
• Code Development: Write high-quality code to complete features on schedule.
• Operational Evaluation: Assess the operational practicality of applications.
• System Monitoring: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues on supported NOC Portal systems to ensure 24x7 availability.
• SDLC Compliance: Follow Software Development Lifecycle processes and tools.
• Agile Practices: Apply agile practices and principles to maximize business value and continuously improve customer outcomes.
• Research: Participate in researching and identifying new and emerging technologies to enhance NOC Portal processes.

Do You Have

• Strong full-stack web development experience, with a focus on modern front-end and back-end development.
• College degree in a technical or related field or at least 8 years of work experience in a structured development environment
• Software Development: Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
• Agile: Familiarity with agile practices and management tools such as Azure Dev Ops, build/deployment YAML pipelines, and other Azure Tools
• Git/Source Code Management: Experience with code management, including branching, merging, and pull requests. Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, debugging, and codebase analysis to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
• Web Applications/Coding Languages: Strong programming skills in Python, including experience with Python libraries and frameworks. Modern front-end experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a current framework (e.g., React, Vue, or Angular). Experience with PHP is valuable for maintaining and incrementally migrating the existing application.
• Scripting/ETL: Proficient in writing and debugging shell scripts for scripting, automation, and ETL processes. Experience scheduling and managing cron job tasks; experience with (or a desire to adopt) a workflow orchestrator such as Apache Airflow is a plus. Exposure to Perl is helpful for migrating legacy reporting processes.
• APIs and Web Services: Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: RESTful API principles, API Access Concepts (including REST, SSO, LDAP, OAuth2, etc.)
• Programming/Markup Languages: Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML
• Systems: Proficiency in Linux command line operations, system administration, and environment setup. Familiar with web application server technologies (e.g. Apache HTTPD, IIS, or Tomcat).
• Knowledge of Azure cloud services and infrastructure. Experience with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting. Experience with containerization using Docker, including Docker images, containers, and orchestration.
• Databases: Experience with MySQL/MariaDB database design, querying, and administration. Hand-on experience with one or more of the following: Neo4j, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, Snowflake.

The starting compensation range for this job is $76,300 to $104,200. Our compensation approach is designed to be fair and competitive. Pay for this role is based on factors such as your experience, skills, education, and location.
