Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in North Carolina to lead end-to-end backend system work, including design, development, and integration with third-party services. You will drive performance, data integrity, and secure architectures across development, testing, and production environments.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in backend systems, strong cloud exposure, and excellent collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams in a large enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Expertise in server-side deployment, system integration, cloud exposure (Azure/AWS) and API management; strong knowledge of database design, optimization, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Experience troubleshooting across applications, operating systems, databases, and network infrastructure.
• Experience working within large enterprises or global technology environments.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Confluence and Jira; aptitude for continuous process improvement for processes/workflows.
• Relevant certifications or experience in supporting physical security technology systems preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior-level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and systems.
• Integrates third-party products.
• Translates technical specifications into solution delivery for complex projects for internal clients.
• Employs software development techniques to support product delivery.
• Leads backend system optimization for high performance and scalability.
• Speaks on integrating multiple data sources, APIs, and services to improve data flow.
• Oversees creation and upkeep of backend documentation for cross-functional understanding.
• Advocates and implements best practices for security, data protection, and backend resilience.
• Elevates systems into development, test, and production environments on schedule.
• Provides follow-up production support.
