Job summary

LaunchCode seeks an experienced Senior Appian Developer/Senior Consultant to support software development and digital transformation initiatives in the Washington, D.C. area.

You will work directly with stakeholders to design and implement scalable workflow and process automation solutions on the Appian platform. Ideal candidates will have strong hands-on Appian development skills (SAIL, Expression Language, process modeling) and experience leading teams in Agile/Scrum environments.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Appian Developer / Senior Consultant to support software development and digital transformation initiatives in the Washington, D.C. area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Appian professional who enjoys solving complex business problems, working directly with stakeholders, and developing scalable workflow and process automation solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Appian development, SAIL, Appian Expression Language, process modeling, integrations, and relational databases. Experience leading development teams or overseeing Scrum/Agile development processes is highly valued.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise applications using the Appian platform
• Build intuitive user interfaces using SAIL
• Develop business logic using Appian Expression Language
• Design and implement Appian Process Models and workflows
• Develop and maintain Appian Records, interfaces, rules, and data objects
• Integrate Appian applications with internal and external systems using REST APIs, web services, JSON, and other integration technologies
• Write and optimize SQL queries and work with relational databases
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Participate in requirements gathering, architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment
• Troubleshoot application issues and provide ongoing production support
• Work closely with product owners, business analysts, architects, and other software engineers
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and provide technical guidance
• Help establish and maintain development standards, coding practices, and quality controls

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Significant hands-on experience developing applications with Appian
• Strong knowledge of Appian SAIL and Expression Language
• Experience with Appian Process Models and workflow development
• Experience developing Appian integrations and APIs
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and web services
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Appian certification strongly preferred

• Experience leading or mentoring software development teams
• Experience with enterprise application integration
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Experience supporting federal government or other highly regulated environments
