Job summary
The Illinois Courts, Appellate Court, seeks an experienced Senior Research Attorney to perform professional legal research, writing, and related services with autonomy under the appellate court legal research director. Qualifications
- Graduate of ABA-accredited law school.
- Minimum of 5 years’ legal experience.
- Licensed in Illinois and in good standing; attorney.
- Criminal law experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the legal research director in reviewing the work of staff research attorneys.
- Review legal analysis for accuracy, clarity, and procedural conformity.
- Advise research attorneys on methodology, rules, and points of law.
- Research statutes and authorities relevant to issues before the court.
- Read briefs and records, determine relevant cases, and verify jurisdiction.
- Confer with justices, law clerks, and staff on assignments and analyses.
- Study current publications and interpret new Illinois statutes as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
