Job summary

Discord is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Application Security team and protect users’ accounts. You will work on full‑stack, user‑facing security solutions for hundreds of millions of users, with emphasis on session security, authentication, and secure design.

You will lead security projects, collaborate with Product, and implement capabilities across Google Cloud, WebAuthn, MFA, and related technologies.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience securing production applications.
3+ years programming in Python, Go, Java, or Rust.
Hands-on experience shipping production software with security features.
Experience with authentication and account security (WebAuthn, MFA, etc.).
Experience leading security projects across teams.
Experience operating in cloud environments (Google Cloud).

Responsibilities

Join an engineering team designing and implementing full‑stack, user‑facing security solutions.
Lead full‑stack work to strengthen session security and authentication for users.
Improve, operate, and maintain security‑critical authentication services.
Partner with Product teams to drive adoption of stronger authentication and ship user‑facing tools.
Identify and design solutions for emerging threats to user account security.
Research and implement new security capabilities for the platform.
Build security controls and tools that emphasize self‑service, automation, and performance.
