Senior Staff Software Engineer - IE07HE

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff API Software Engineer for a hands-on technical role. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in software engineering, API development, and integrations, with a passion for coding and full-stack development. A key focus will be API modernization and working with distributed teams to enable federated API management.

Responsibilities:

  1. API Software Engineering: Lead the API Enablement Team, guiding API solutions, Gateway configuration, and administration on platforms like API Connect, Apigee, Azure API Management, and Amazon API Gateway.
  2. Create Innovative API Solutions: Develop solutions to accelerate API delivery, improve developer experience, and enhance security, performance, and resiliency through shared components and best practices.
  3. API Governance and Quality: Ensure API scalability, performance, and security, participate in governance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  4. Technical Delivery and Leadership: Lead software development, demonstrate full-stack capabilities, and adapt to new technologies, including programming languages, low-code/no-code tools, and architectural patterns.
  5. API SRE and Incident Management: Drive SRE practices ensuring API reliability and lead incident response, including on-call rotations.
  6. Innovation and POCs: Drive high-value POCs and stay current with industry trends, including GenAI.
  7. Communication and Collaboration: Foster team collaboration, solve technical challenges, and adapt to changing requirements.
  8. Team Coaching: Mentor team members and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in technical, engineering, or operations roles with leadership experience, especially in API technical leadership.

API Management & Integrations:

  • 3+ years hands-on experience with API platforms (API Connect, Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
  • Deep knowledge of API design (OpenAPI, JSON, REST, GraphQL).
  • Experience with API lifecycle, cloud, microservices, event-driven architecture, and service buses.
  • Proficiency in API security, OAuth2, JWT, and IAM frameworks.

Full Stack Engineering:

  • Proven ability to lead technical delivery, with skills in Java, Python, React, low-code/no-code tools, and DevOps.
  • Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, and GenAI.

Incident & SRE:

  • Expertise in incident management, resiliency, monitoring, and diagnosis tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch).
  • Ability to participate in 24x7 on-call rotations.

Cloud & Innovation:

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and executing POCs, including GenAI projects.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Ability to mentor, communicate effectively, and partner across teams.

Additional: Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship; STEM OPT I-983 endorsement not supported.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field.
  • Insurance industry experience and familiarity with insurance productization.
  • Experience with GenAI and Agentic AI.

Compensation:

The annual base pay range is $126,160 - $189,240, based on market analysis and individual factors. Compensation includes bonuses, incentives, and other rewards.
