Job summary

Octave in Madison, AL is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the Accounts Payable team while handling cost accounting functions. This role collaborates with cross-functional and remote teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls under GAAP and SOX.

You will supervise daily AP operations, train staff, and drive process improvements, month-end close support, and 1099 reporting, with exposure to Deltek Costpoint 7.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; 3–5 years in accounts payable or general accounting.
• Strong MS Excel skills; experience with Deltek Costpoint 7 is advantageous.
• Ability to lead and train a team, coordinate workflow, and work with remote colleagues.
• Knowledge of GAAP, SOX, internal controls.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional leadership to the AP team and oversee daily operations.
• Coordinate daily AP workflow, review for accuracy, resolve routine issues, and escalate complex matters as needed.
• Train new team members and foster a collaborative, productive work environment.
• Support month-end close, bank reconciliations, and 1099 reporting.
• Ensure GAAP and SOX compliance and strong internal controls.
