Job description

Talent Acquisition Specialist at Opportune

Position Description:

The Senior AP/JIB Accountant will serve as a key member of the AP/JIB team, responsible for processing well-related and G&A accounts payable invoices, account transactions, vendor reconciliations, and journal entries as needed. This role also includes managing the client’s Joint Interest monthly close. The position is based in our Northwest Houston, Texas office and includes the following responsibilities:

  1. Reviewing invoices for proper approvals and coding
  2. Researching and reconciling vendor accounts to statements and client-prepared manual check registers
  3. Reviewing and confirming setup of new vendors in the accounting system
  4. Managing the monthly closing calendar and client schedule
  5. Assisting with client/employee training as needed
  6. Reconciling monthly AP sub-ledger and general ledger, providing documentation to the AP Manager
  7. Setting up and maintaining billing allocation tables, overhead charges, and well master
  8. Keeping the Manager informed on client/joint interest issues and projects
  9. Consulting with the Accounts Payable Manager regarding invoice and billing issues
  10. Processing joint interest owner invoices according to the client’s schedule
  11. Responding to inquiries from working interest owners regarding billings
  12. Preparing analysis of owner accounts and well costs for monthly reporting and special requests
  13. Providing detailed expense and capital analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3-5 years of oil and gas accounts payable and JIB experience required
  • Strong professional presence with effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills
  • Proficiency with BOLO, DocVue, Oildex, and EnergyLink is preferred
