Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in the Baltimore–Washington area seeks an Antenna Systems Engineer to advance RF sensor systems, phased arrays, and related architectures. You will design, test, and evaluate antenna components and lead system-level trade studies in collaboration with sponsors.

Qualifications

  • An MS in electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent with EM/RF concentration.
  • 5 years of experience in developing phased array radar, EW, or communications systems.
  • Experience with FEKO, HFSS, or ADS.
  • Strong MATLAB or Python skills.
  • Experience with RF lab equipment (network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% and obtain Interim Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Work on pioneering RF sensors and phased array technologies.
  • Perform system engineering trade studies for concept development.
  • Develop and assess antenna architectures and RF apertures against system metrics.
  • Design, integrate, and test prototype RF apertures and sensor systems in lab, chamber, and field settings.
  • Present analysis to sponsors and prime contractors to guide program direction.
  • Translate findings into whitepapers, talks, or publications.
