Under supervision, you will care for animals in the shelter, assist customers, and help with reports and data entry. The role includes potential after-hours responses and transporting pets to events, with certification required within 180 days.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Driver's License as a requirement.
• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year of customer service and/or animal care experience required.
• Euthanasia Technician certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services is required within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Cleans Animal Shelter daily, including feeding, watering, and grooming animals; monitors animals for illness and disease and provides medications.
• Provides customer assistance; maintains and updates files and assists with reports and computer entry.
• Euthanizes animals and processes animal carcasses.
• May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
• Operates a City vehicle to retrieve warehouse items and transport pets to adoption events or other assigned locations.
• Impounds owner surrenders, strays, and seized animals, entering their information into the shelter management software.
