Job summary

Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge is seeking a Lead Worker - Anesthesia to provide anesthesia and anesthetic support across clinical service areas, while leading a team of technicians and assistants in the LSU VetMed Anesthesia service.

The role requires expertise in safe animal handling, instruction of veterinary students in anesthesia techniques and patient monitoring, and the ability to collaborate with faculty clinicians to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; OR associate's degree in veterinary technology with 4 years' experience OR credentials as a vet tech or equivalent with 4 years' experience OR 7 years of experience in a working environment with similar duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform and teach anesthetic induction, monitoring, recovery, airway management, catheter placement, regional anesthesia, and related procedures.
• Perform and teach daily Anesthesia Service operations, including equipment use, patient monitoring, and clinical instruction of veterinary and veterinary technician students.
• Provide leadership and operational support to the anesthesia team, collaborate on scheduling, onboarding, and training, and oversee equipment and inventory.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as assigned.
